MG Motor has recently increased the price of its Windsor EV model in India, specifically for the top-spec Essence Pro variant. The flagship model now has an ex-showroom price of Rs 18.31 lakh, reflecting a price hike of Rs 21,000. Prices for the other variants - Excite, Exclusive, and Essence - remain unchanged. The Essence Pro variant is equipped with a larger 52.9 kWh battery pack, providing a claimed range of 449 km on a single charge, a notable improvement over the 332 km range of the 38 kWh battery in lower variants. The power output remains consistent throughout the range, with a 136 hp motor producing 200 Nm of torque. Apart from the upgraded battery, the Essence Pro comes with a range of premium features including dual-tone ivory-black upholstery, a powered tailgate, and advanced charging technologies such as vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) functionality. Charging options range from a 7.4kW AC charger, requiring approximately 9.5 hours for a full charge, to a 60kW DC fast charger that can charge the car from 20% to 80% in just 50 minutes. The exterior of the vehicle has been enhanced with new 18-inch alloy wheels and three additional paint choices: Celadon Blue, Glaze Red, and Aurora Silver. Inside, the cabin maintains a 15.6-inch touchscreen, an 8.8-inch digital driver's display, a panoramic glass roof, a 9-speaker Infinity audio system, wireless charging, a 360-degree camera, six airbags, and an electronic parking brake. The most significant upgrade is the addition of ADAS Level 2 features. The system now includes adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, front collision warning, and intelligent headlamp control. Buyers also have the option to opt for the BaaS (Battery as a Service) plan, which reduces the effective ex-showroom price of the Essence Pro to Rs 13.31 lakh, along with a usage-based charge of Rs 4.5 per km.
